Mum Hug Pocket Shawl - Crochet Pattern US Terms

This Mum Hug Pocket Shawl was designed with my own Mum in mind. This beautiful lady was the one who taught me how to crochet and has always been there for me like a warm hug right when I need it. When I wrap myself in this pocket shawl it protects me from the elements and gives me a sense of security just like my Mum does. It is fun and easy to make and I hope it makes you feel like you are safe and secure just like a Mum Hug. Maybe it’s also my way of giving you a hug when you need it.
You can use any 8ply yarn to make this pattern....the softer the better so you get a super soft and cosy hug when you wear your pocket shawl.
Size can be varied by working in increments of 3 ST's and having an odd number of ST's in total to start. I used a 6mm hook to keep the finished result soft and pliable.
You will need approx 500g/1250m of 8ply/DK yarn.
I used a couple of different yarns but my favourite yarn for this pattern is Patons Sierra 8ply Wool and Acrylic blend. The colour way in this yarn really shines in this pattern. I have also used Fiddlesticks Superb 8 Acrylic as this is a good non pilling yarn and is so lovely and soft.
Level of crochet skills required is- intermediate beginners and up (please note that as a beginner you need to know the basic stitches of crochet and be able to hand sew and read a pattern)
